Pre/Post-Surgical
Care

Surgery is a milestone — not a finish line. From prehab before your procedure to full return to activity after, we manage your physical recovery at every stage.

Preparation and Recovery

The Care You Need,
When You Need it

Presurgical rehabilitation — commonly called “prehab” — is one of the most underutilized tools in surgical preparation. The research is clear: patients who enter surgery with greater strength, better mobility, and a reduced inflammatory baseline consistently recover faster, require fewer post-operative visits, and achieve better long-term outcomes. At Ethos, we build a prehab program targeted at your specific injury and surgery type — reducing pain, building strength, and setting you up for the best possible surgical result.

Post-surgical care at Ethos is managed by your licensed physical therapist from day one, in close coordination with your surgeon’s protocols and guidelines. We have extensive experience rehabilitating patients across a wide range of orthopedic and spinal procedures — progressing you at the right pace based on both standard healing timelines and your individual response to treatment. Our goal is always the same: full return to the activities you care about most.

PHASED RECOVERY — STEPS

01 Prehab (Pre-Surgery) — Build strength, restore mobility, and reduce pain before your procedure. This phase ends when you’re in the best possible physical condition heading into surgery.

02 Acute Recovery (Post-Surgery) — Protect the surgical repair while managing pain and swelling. Gentle range-of-motion work, manual therapy, and patient education guide this phase.

03 Restore Strength & Motion — Progressive strengthening and mobility work — paced to your body’s healing and your surgeon’s protocol — build the foundation for full function.

04 Functional Training & Return to Activity — Activity-specific training that prepares your body for everything you want to return to — sports, work, recreation, or just everyday life without limitations.

Start Before Surgery.
Finish Strong After.

Whether you’re preparing for a procedure or recovering from one, Ethos has the experience and the approach to get you where you want to be. Serving Plymouth and South Lyon, MI.
